Washington Center for Psychoanalysis

The Washington Center for Psychoanalysis is a nonprofit association based in Washington, DC which provides clinical and non-clinical training in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, as well as other psychoanalytic theory and concepts as applied to the arts, film and theater, as well as to academia, and a full program of psychoanalytic scientific meetings, conferences and lectures. Our community, virtual and real-world, provides many opportunities for collegiality, for education and for promotion of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy through community outreach projects.

Psychoanalytic Studies Program (PSP)

A new program of the Washington Psychoanalytic Center, beginning Fall 2013.

Washington Psychoanalytic Institute

Offers full psychoanalytic training for careers in psychoanalytic practice, teaching and research.

Fellowship Program in Psychoanalysis

Couple and Family Therapy Training

A training experience with video observation that focuses on the treatment of relationships. A two year certificate program or a one year CME educational experience are offered.

Psychoanalytic Theory for Scholars

Introduction to contemporary psychoanalytic theory for non-mental health academicians.

Reviews human research protocols to safeguard the rights, safety, and well-being of all trial subjects.

Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing

Active members of the Center automatically receive a subscription to Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEPWEB). PEPWEB provides online access to all but the most recent issues of many leading psychoanalytic journals and some books, and includes the entire Standard Edition of Freud's collected works. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis. The American Psychoanalytic Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Psychoanalytic Association designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 1 credit pr hour of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  The Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, Inc. maintains responsibility for the program and its content and offers 1 credit per hour for this activity.

The programs of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, Inc. meet the criteria for continuing education as defined by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, District of Columbia and Virginia Boards of Social Work, and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.  The Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, Inc. designates this program as a continuing education activity for social work for 1 credit per hour.
