The Psychoanalytic Theory for Scholars Program of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis offers a two-year introduction to contemporary psychoanalytic theory.

The program is open to applicants from any profession or discipline, including the mental health field.

Program Features

• Classes explore early and contemporary psychoanalytic theory and its applications.
• Participants may present and develop their own work in selected sessions.
• Classes are taught by psychoanalysts from the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute.
• Classes meet one or two evenings per month during the academic year at the Center’s offices.
• Participants are invited to psychoanalytic educational events offered by the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, including scientific meetings.
• Topics may include human development, sexuality, psychopathology, trauma, memory, and the psychotherapeutic process. Topics are selected with each class’s professional and personal interests in mind.

Tuition and Application

Tuition is $170 per course or $140 for WCP members, payable upon registration.
