Program Management

Program Management Committee

The Program Management Committee brings together representatives from the Washington Center for Psychoanalysiss major divisions and programs. It provides a collegial forum for sharing updates, identifying common interests, requesting advice, and coordinating work across the Center.

The committee meets monthly on the third Wednesday, except during July and August. It also oversees activities that involve the Center as a whole.

Represented Divisions

  • Institute Division: The Washington Psychoanalytic Institute
  • Psychotherapy Division: Psychoanalytic psychotherapy programming
  • Continuing Education Division: Educational programs, scientific meetings, cinema programs, study groups, and fellowships
  • Community Outreach Division: Community initiatives, theater programming, and the Psychoanalytic Clinic
  • Public Relations Division: Research, media relations, special events, and publications

Responsibilities

Representatives report on their divisions activities so that programs can coordinate related work and address shared concerns. The committee also reviews programmatic issues and helps determine where new ideas can be developed most effectively within the organization.

Relationship with the Board

The Program Management Committee works closely with the Board of Directors. It may review and approve proposals for new programs before presenting them to the Board for ratification. When an initiative originates with the Board, the committee can help assign it to the division or program best suited to carry it forward.

Committee minutes are shared with members, who may contact the committee chair with ideas or concerns related to the Centers programs.
